Chaminade Wins 70-23 vs Venice

The Chaminade Eagles rolled to an impressive 70-23 victory over the Venice Gondoliers in their season opener last week. Chaminade received a stellar performance from Okalani Langi, who scored four touchdowns in his first game for the Eagles.

Chaminade jumped out to the early lead on a short touchdown run by Langi. A bad snap on a punt attempt cost the Eagles two points.

Trailing 7-2, Venice quarterback Robbie Blosser connected with Dejon Jones on a huge 55-yard touchdown strike to give the Gondoliers the lead 9-7. Chaminade responded quickly and added two more touchdowns by Langi.

Blosser linked up with Kemontae Dafney on an incredible touchdown strike in which Dafney snatched the ball away from the Chaminade defender and cut the deficit to 22-16. . From there however, the Eagles seized control and blew the game open.

The task of replacing Miami starting freshman quarterback Brad Kaaya has been filled by two talented signal callers. Dymond Lee and Edward Sias both played well under center for the Eagles and should continue to improve as they gain more experience. Sias threw a couple sweet touchdown strikes, displaying pinpoint accuracy and poise under pressure.

The Chaminade defense played well at every level. Defensive end Joel Loth applied constant pressure while linebacker Greg Pearse was flying all over the field making plays from sideline to sideline. The Eagles secondary were ballhawks, forcing several interceptions, including two picks by Diamond Harrell.

When it was over, Chaminade had racked up 70 points to earn a solid road victory.

Venice has the week off as they prepare for a tough road game at Oaks Christian on September 12.

Up next for the Eagles is a battle with Brady White and the Hart Indians at home on September 5. Hart's high octane offense should pose a serious challenge to the Chaminade D.
