Brett Hundley... The Future is Now for UCLA Football

Hundley Ready for Breakout Season with Bruins & Head Coach Jim Mora.

Supremely talented UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley should make quite a splash in the Pac-12 this upcoming season. After redshirting last season, the former five-star recruit from Chandler High in Arizona is primed to lead the Bruins to glory.

New Bruins head coach Jim Mora Jr. inherits one heck of a gun slinger in Hundley. It’s hard to believe former coach Rick Neuheisel could not find use for him last season. At 6’3 210 with a rocket arm and dual threat capability, Hundley has the potential to be unstoppable. Under the tutelage of new offensive coordinator and quarterback guru Noel Mazzone, Hundley should improve his footwork and throwing motion.

An immeasurable quality for a quarterback is leadership. Brett Hundley is a born leader and should command the respect of his teammates. As a highly coveted recruit, Brett Hundley developed a firm understanding of how to approach the recruiting process. Hundley shared his insight with CLA while he was a senior in high school.

“Stay focused and don’t let recruiting become a distraction. Know that you are in control but be respectful and humble. Just keep working hard and getting better because there is always someone who is working for the same reason you are and know that the competition can only help bring out the best in you.”

Words of wisdom for aspiring college level athletes in any sport.

Standing in Hundley ‘s path to the starting job are middling veterans Kevin Prince and Richard Brehaut. Both have battled injuries and inconsistency during their careers and lack the playmaking ability and upside that Hundley possesses. Coach Mora would be wise to avoid the past mistakes of his predecessor and hand the reigns to Hundley. While he may lack game experience, Brett Hundley holds the key to the Bruins promising future and should have a breakout season in 2012.
