Expect 2016 Standouts Brandon Burton and Blake Walls To Shine For Serra This Season

2016 West Coast Class is Stacked

There were several D1 college coaches in attendance at a 7v7 passing tournament at Gardena Serra High last week. Narbonne and Culver City joined host Serra, who was without standouts Adoree' Jackson and Dwight Williams.

The Serra offense was directed by returning starter and Boise State commit Jalen Greene. With receivers like Jordan Lasley and Greg Webb in the mix, Greene will have plenty of weapons at his disposal. The Cavaliers offense is certainly in good hands under Greene's stewardship.

After talking with several Serra players, it is clear that Joshua Thomas is expected to make a big impact on the offensive side of the ball this season.

On defense, the Cavaliers are loaded with D1 talent on the defensive line, linebacker and in the secondary. The two youngest prospects are freshmen Brandon Burton and Blake Walls, who play well beyond their years on the grid-iron.

Brandon is an explosive athlete that makes plays on both sides of the ball. Burton's amazing physical abilties combined with his strong work ethic make him one of the brightest young stars in the country.

Brandon Burton: CLA Recruiting Interview

Burton is always working to improve his game. Over Memorial Day weekend, Brandon was running routes and working with standout signal callers like Michigan commit Wilton Speight, Hart QB Brady White, Chaminade QB Brad Kaaya and Oaks Christian QB Brandon Dawkins at Steve Clarkson's Quarterback Retreat in San Diego. CLA caught up with Burton last week at the 7v7 tourney at Serra. "Right now, USC is looking at me to play mainly offense... Currently I have offers from USC, UCLA and Florida State," Burton told CLA Sports.

Freshman linebacker Blake Walls is a beast. The chiseled hard hitting linebacker will be an intimidating presence on the Serra D this season. Walls' goals for the upcoming season are clear. "Team-wise we wanna win another state title and individually, just have a good sophomore season," the freshman told CLA Sports.

Michigan special teams and tight ends coach Dan Ferrigno put it best when he said "that kid looks like a 19-year old." CLA expects Walls to land several scholarship offers in due time.

Serra head coach Scott Altenberg is surely thrilled to have these two future college level athletes in the fold for the next few years. The Cavaliers ability to churn out D1 bound athletes on a consistent basis is a testament to Coach Altenberg's standard of excellence and effective coaching style.
