2009-2010 News & Notes:

  Senior dual-threat standout, and USC commit Robert Woods is already having a breakout season. On both sides of the ball, Woods is dominating, and the Serra High football team has won its first two games by an average of nearly 50 points per game. Serra routed Silverado (61-0) in their season opener, and went on to beat Redondo (49-12). On offense, Woods has over 140 yards receiving, with two touchdowns, and has already picked off 3 passes this season. Look for USC commit Robert Woods to continue to blaze trails this year, especially if junior QB Connor Preston continues to play so well. Preston has completed nearly 70% of his passes, while throwing 8 TD passes, with no INTs. Preston is averaging about 250 passing yards per game. Preston has also found a reliable target in junior sensation wide receiver George Farmer, who has racked up over 200 receiving yards, and 4 TD receptions in 2009.

• Look out for Serra junior WR George Farmer to be on the top of many recruiting boards come 2011. As a sopomore, in 2008, Farmer hauled in over 30 catches and more than 500 receiving yards, and scored 7 touchdowns. Only two games into the 2009 prep football season, the junior WR Farmer is more than halfway to his TD total of 2008. Watch out Del Rey League.

  Serra improves to 4-0 with a lopsided (48-0) win over Palos Verdes. The Serra High School defense has given up only 29 points in four games this season.
