Hobbi, in appreciation for his performance on the field for Saguauro, has received an invitation to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio next year, as well as the Under Armour All-American game in Orlando, Florida in January. "That is a really great honor… I have chosen to go to the Under Armour All-American game where a bunch of my buddies are going," Hobbi told CLA Sports.
Hobbi currently holds offers from Oregon, USC, Alabama, Cal, Michigan, Notre Dame, Tennessee and a number of other universities, and indicated that he would have his list of schools narrowed down by the end of the summer. Look for Hobbi's offer list to swell as the 2010 season progresses. Regarded as the top offensive lineman on the West coast, Hobbi says, "I do love the Pac-10 and know a lot more about it's schools… but I don't know, we'll see. I wanna get the chance to check out some other schools, but I definitely like the Pac-10." It's going to be a toss up as to where Hobbi ends up playing out his college career, but look for him to make an early impact wherever he lands. CLA Sports Interview with Cyrus Hobbi (June 11th, 2010):
CLA: As one of the top OL recruits in the 2011 class with offers across the board, have you been able to narrow down a top list of schools?
Cyrus Hobbi: Not yet really. I want to get a chance to check out as many schools as I can and see which one I fit into the most, but I think I will have a narrowed list by the end of the summer.
CLA: Are you looking to stay in the Pac-10?
Cyrus Hobbi: Ya know, I do love the Pac-10 and know a lot more about it's schools than others, but I don't know, we'll see. Like I said, I wanna get the chance to check out some other schools, but I definitely like the Pac-10.
CLA: Have you taken any trips recently, or do you have any visits scheduled?
Cyrus Hobbi: Yeah. I went to Cali last week and visited Cal, UCLA and USC, and in about 3 weeks I'm going to Michigan and Notre Dame.
CLA: Your team rushed for over 3500 yards and 43 TDs last season. How does it feel knowing you had a great part in your teams production on the ground?
Cyrus Hobbi: Pretty awesome. I have been starting on this varsity team for two years now going on to my third, and we have always had a very good running game. I give most the credit to the guys running the rock like Teddy Ruben, Danny Clark, and D.J. Foster, all studs.
CLA: You were recently selected to the US Army All-American game. Can you comment on that?
Cyrus Hobbi: Yeah that is a really great honor, but I have chosen to go to the Under Armour All-American game where a bunch of my buddies are going.
CLA: What are your individual and team goals for the upcoming football season?
Cyrus Hobbi: Well obviously I wanna win state this year, and do it by going undefeated. I think we have a good shot at that. Personally I just want to establish myself as a leader of this team and help take us to our goals.
CLA: If you were a scout watching Cyrus Hobbi, what would you say his strengths are, and what does he need to work on going into his senior year?
Cyrus Hobbi: Well every coach tells me they love how physical and nasty I am, which I take a lot of pride in. They also say I'm very athletic and versatile because I play so many different positions. Personally I am working on just becoming the best athlete I can for this year and the next level.
