Day One at quarterback guru Steve Clarkson's 2014 Field Generals LA camp at Maranatha High featured many talented quarterbacks working to improve their craft.

Local standouts in attendance included Hart's Brady White, Servite's Travis Waller and Santa Margarita's KJ Costello. Foothill gun-slinger Kyle Kearns from NorCal looked sharp and should be a force on the upcoming 7v7 circuit.

Now that the high school football season is in the books, aspiring college level athletes have the opportunity to hone their skills outside the school setting. No position requires more dedication, training and development than quarterback.

Many of the top local quarterbacks and gun-slingers representing 20 states will receive expert tutelage at quarterback guru Steve Clarkson's 2014 Field General Quarterback Camp this weekend. 90 of the most talented young arms in the nation will get to measure their skills against premier competition at this sold-out event.

The Chaminade Eagles defeated the Hart Indians 28-10 to capture the CIFSS Division II Regional Championship Saturday night at College of the Canyons to advance to the Div. II State Bowl game next week.

The Eagles defense, anchored by seniors Jojo McIntosh and Rick Gamboa, bottled up the Indians offense for much of the night. Junior defensive end Joel Loth was a monster off the edge tonight, wreaking havoc in the Hart backfield and tallying four sacks.

In a classic rematch of Foothill League foes, the Hart Indians defeated the Valencia Vikings 28-21 to capture the CIFSS Northern Division crown Friday night in front of a raucous capacity crowd.

With the game deadlocked 21-21 in the fourth quarter, Hart junior gun-slinger Brady White linked up with senior Wes Fitzpatrick on a screen pass that went 53 yards to the house for the go-ahead touchdown. Hart senior playmaker Connor Wingenroth sealed the victory with an interception in the end zone with seconds to play.

The Hart Indians defeated the Palos Verdes Sea Kings 33-12 Friday night at College of the Canyons to advance to the CIFSS Northern Division semifinals.

Standout junior quarterback Brady White tossed four touchdowns while senior running back Connor Wingenroth ran wild with 284 rushing yards, including a 63-yard touchdown burst.

Friday night was one to remember for Serra senior Olajuwon "Boodah" Tucker. This season, Tucker has catapulted himself onto the national recruiting scene by making big play after big play. With the USC coaching staff on the sidelines for the Cavaliers game against Harvard-Westlake, Tucker didn't skip a beat.

"I had a fumble recovery on the first play of the game and had about 10-12 tackles. I also had a pass deflection that led to Dwight's (Williams) pick," Tucker told CLA.

Valencia 6'2" 245 senior defensive end Josh Stanton played a huge role in the Vikings week one victory over Palmdale. Stanton has already received an offer from Wyoming and is getting interest from Arizona State and Colorado State.

Stanton filled up the stat sheet last week against Palmdale and finished the game with 7 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.

"Going into half-time we were trailing by six. One of our safeties, J.J. Wilson got two picks and that really changed the game," Stanton told CLA tonight.

The Southern California 7 on 7 circuit has always given way for talent to show off their skills in a competitive setting. This has truly been the case for Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei athlete Matt Rockett. The wide receiver / defensive back has been playing solidly for his high school 7v7 team as well as Team AIGA and we were able to catch up with him to talk a bit about his recruitment, what the 7v7 experience has done for him and more.
