The Westlake Warriors avenged last season's defeat to the Canyon Cowboys with a dominating 44-17 victory on the road last week.

Class of 2016 gun-slinger Malik Henry proved why he's so coveted by several big time college programs. Henry sprayed the ball around to his bevy of weapons and picked apart the Canyon defense.

The Warriors first touchdown was set up by a sweet punt return fromTanner Gee. Bruising back Reno Dubreuil rumbled for the score and a 7-0 lead.

Several of the top high school football players in Southern California competed in the 3rd annual 4th Quarter Sports 7v7 Shootout at Salesian high school Sunday. The athletes braved stormy weather conditions and nearly 12 hours of action before a champion was crowned.

In the finale, Team FCA defeated GameChangers to take home the trophy. Team FCA was led by Long Beach Poly quarterback Josh Love, Buena Park receiver Jaylinn Hawkins, Orange Lutheran athlete Hudson Hankins and several other talented D1Bound prospects.

The St. John Bosco Braves defeated the Alemany Warriors 56-14 Friday night in Mission Hills to advance to the CIFSS Pac-5 Championship game.

The undefeated Braves were led by the stellar play of senior Jaleel Wadood, who stepped up for Bosco with two touchdowns and two interceptions on the night.

St. John Bosco took the early 7-0 lead on a sweet touchdown strike from junior Josh Rosen to Wadood.

The Burbank Bulldogs crushed the Glendale Nitros 56-10 at Moyse Stadium Thursday night . Burbank super sophomore running back James Williams put on a ridiculous performance, rushing for 194 yards and three touchdowns on only four carries.

The Bulldogs seized control of the game from the outset and relied heavily on their stable of running backs that includes Williams, senior captain Teddy Arlington and junior bulldozer Joseph Pendleton. Both Arlington and Pendleton scored two touchdowns for Burbank.

Today's game came up to the fourth quarter. Coach told us to come into this game and compete. I feel like we didn't come into the game as ready and focused as the other games we've played. We underestimated them from the beginning of the first half.

The score settled at a 20 to 20 tie as we went to the locker room. In the locker room we talked about making up for the mistakes we made in the first half and that when we come out the second half we have to focus and play "Serra Football."

So, this week we take on Mira Costa High School. We've all been working hard this week, mostly on the mental stuff. Last week was a big win for us versus a power house like Long Beach Poly and the week before that when we took on Notre Dame. Two games isn't what we want. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there expecting us to win CIF and State this year, but as of right now we are taking each game one at a time.

The time has come. The 2012 college football season kicks off Thursday with a good set of games to get the ball rolling.

The only ranked team on the slate are #9 South Carolina who opens the year on the road against Vanderbilt in an early season SEC clash.

Another intriguing story line is the debut of Brett Hundley as UCLA starting quarterback in head coach Jim L. Mora’s first game at the helm.

In the battle of the Cougars, Washington State travels to Provo to take on BYU in Mike Leach’s inaugural game as WSU head coach.
